Reporting to the Global Head of NCP Logistics Procurement, the Global Ocean Freight Procurement Manager will be responsible for global ocean freight including the subcategories containerized shipping, freight forwarding, and drayage.
Your main challenge will be to secure the best position for ofi in ocean freight market. In this position you will make an important contribution to the logistics strategy, which is one of key categories for ofi, working with stakeholders across 6 Business Units and global/regional suppliers.
- Develop, update, drive and implement three-year plan for ocean freight.
- Lead the development, negotiation, and execution of key contracts with key suppliers to ensure quality, cost-effectiveness, and timely delivery of ocean freight and services.
- Build, manage lead-time, and lead RFPs (Requests for Proposal) and develop “should-cost” analysis.
- Develop market intelligence, sustainability, and risk management agenda.
- Project manage, build, identify and execute cost savings initiatives across the ocean freight category, tracking progress against budget/savings and delivering regular reports to senior management.
- Responsible for procurement excellence topics related to logistics category with main focus on design (e.g. Source to Pay process, spend classification, vendor master data etc.) with support of logistics analyst for execution.
- Supplier Relationship Management (incl. supplier segmentation, business review meetings, improvement projects etc.)
- Stakeholder Management (monthly meetings, supporting their business requirements and identifying opportunity areas)
- Last escalation point for operational challenges related to contract execution (mainly driven by other team members: Global Freight Desk team)
- Develop and drive the organization to identify improvement areas and explore cost reduction opportunities; Liase with business/finance on saving reporting (with support of logistics analyst)
- Partner with other functions on cross-functional projects (e.g. implementation of Oracle, SAP S4Hana, global master data, sustainability reporting etc.

Profiel kandidaat
Our ideal candidate recognizes themself in the following:
- At least bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain/Logistics or Engineering, or related field.
- At least 5 years’ experience in Logistics Procurement, preferably in Ocean Freight.
- Strong background in logistics and supply chain.
- Experience in strategic sourcing (7 steps) and supplier/contract management.
- Data driven person with strong analytical skills.
- Very good organizational skills and cross functional project management experience.
- Strong leadership skills and ability to influence others.
- Nice to have: experience with tender tools such as Coupa, Jaggaer for building logistics events and/or Transport Management System (e.g. Oracle)
- Fluent in English (both verbal and in writing), nice to have: Spanish and/or Portuguese.
- The ability and willingness to travel up to 15% of the time is required.
