Manager Transport & Customs

As a result of growth and continuously expanding global market coverage, we are currently looking for an ambitious, service focused and inspirational Manager Transport and Customs. 

What are you going to do?

In this role you will be internationally (globally) responsible for our Transportation & Shipping operations teams who ensures that our seeds are shipped and stored (two ways) in time, for the right price and according to agreed terms, covering the correct customs, regulatory and phytosanitary paperwork.

Your challenge will be to further improve our service & delivery, performance, product availability while controlling our transportation cost. So part of the managers responsibility is to manage the 3PL’s contracts, budgets and performance to make sure we remain a trusted partner to our clients. Since all countries have different and from time to time, changing legislation and customs requirements it is crucial to keep the teams up to date and sharp on these changes.

Since things can always be done, different, better and or more efficient, the manager is expected to trigger and develop his teams in order for them to strive for continuous improvement and development of themselves and their team efforts. 

Your Power

You are a strong analytical and strategic thinker who’s focus is on further improving Enza Zaden’s “order to cash” part of our Supply Chain. The role is ideal for somebody who has already gained experience and knowledge of all aspects & dynamics of Transportation & Customs practices, preferably in an international sector with complex regulations. You qualify yourself with outstanding communication and negotiation skills that allow you to build & maintain good working relationships with your external logistics suppliers. It goes without saying that you connect seamlessly with internal stakeholders in Seed Operations, Marketing and Sales and Finance.


Since you are managing a team of approximately 12 people, you will be accountable for an optimal performing team, through a.o. leading, motivating, coaching, and developing assigned team members.  You are a team player, you can work with complex problems and large sets of data and easily connect current events to future availability risks and resolve issues when they arise.


In short, you:

  • Preferably have a Masters degree in Logistics/ Supply Chain or Business Administration direction.

  • Have minimal 8 years of work experience in the field of supply chain/logistics.

  • Have a hands-on mentality, a strong persuasiveness, and an analytical attitude.

  • You can make your own decisions and know when it is better to achieve your goals by involving others.

  • Are a pragmatic problem solver and networker.

  • Have strong people management experience.

  • It is your first instinct to be transparent towards stakeholders, and to understand their information requirements.

  • Are proficient in the Dutch and English language, both written and verbal

  • Some international travel will be required for the position
