What are you going to do
As the Manager of Applications LCA (Life Cycle Acceleration) your role is pivotal in driving the implementation and optimization of breeding processes. You will take charge of leading initiatives to streamline our processes, focusing on techniques like marker-assisted backcrossing and speed breeding to expedite the seed-to-seed cycle. Your day-to-day will involve managing various projects aimed at integrating new methods and technologies to enhance breeding efficiency and effectiveness.
Collaboration is key as you will work closely with stakeholders from different departments such as Breeding, R&D Operations, and Research. Your goal is to ensure that our application strategies align fully with the broader objectives of the company. Leading by example, you will oversee a team of process supervisors (locally and overseas), providing them with the guidance and support they need to excel in their roles and contribute to the overall success of the LCA department. The LCA program is of strategic importance for the organization, and it is an exciting time to be part of it. As we grow, so will your team.

By leveraging your expertise and fostering collaboration across teams, you will play a significant role in shaping the future of our breeding processes and making a lasting impact on our new way of working.
Main tasks:
Development of annual operational plan based on the defined LCA project goals and ensure realization of this plan.
Standardisation and continuous improvement of (global) application procedures, such as protocols and work instructions, registration and reporting.
Monitoring project/pipeline activities at the LCA hubs and solve issues in order to reach the defined goals.
Accountable for functional management of the department/leading, developing, motivating and coaching the assigned team members.
Automation and digitalization of processes within the department.
Your power
As it's a new position, you'll need resilience, problem-solving skills, and the ability to figure things out as you set up new processes. You get energised by solving problems and the optimisation of processes to achieve the company’s targets. You play a crucial role as a leader for your local and overseas teams, ensuring they reach their goals and fostering collaboration to ensure teams work together seamlessly.
Getting everyone involved, meeting deadlines and delivering results: with your excellent communication, planning and time management skills, you can do it all. Your plant science/biotech breeding background makes you a knowledgeable discussion partner and thus involved in both process and content. Next to that, you have green fingers and a natural feeling for plant state. You are analytical and attentive to detail, but able to keep an eye on the bigger picture.
In short you:
have a MSc degree;
have a minimum of 6-8 years’ experience of which 5 years of managerial and coaching experience in a breeding environment;
have biotech breeding knowledge;
have excellent interpersonal and communication skills and proficient in the English language, Dutch is a plus;
ICT skills.
