Are you a practical-minded Plant Sciences Master’s student with a passion for working with plant-microbe interactions?
Enza Zaden is looking for an enthusiastic intern to join our team for a 6-month internship starting in mid-February.
This is why you want to join us as Intern Seed Production Research at Enza Zaden
As an intern in Seed Production Research, you will work together with researchers at the Seed Production Research and related departments.
Your main objective during your internship will be to investigate biocontrol colonization in substrates and plants, focusing on their potential for disease prevention and control, as well as their impact on overall plant growth.
Your investigations will carry on in from the seed production environment to the laboratory.
Key tasks include:
Performing bioassays with tripartite interactions: plant x pathogen x biocontrol agent
Measuring plant growth parameters, and microbe populations through plating and advanced molecular methods
Collecting data from ongoing trials and setting up your own trials for more freedom in destructive sampling
The internship involves data analysis throughout the project and preparing reports based on the results. Your deliverables will include:
A comprehensive literature review
A report summarizing experimental data
Raw data files in an understandable format
A final presentation in English for Seed Research and Innovation employees and other Enza colleagues
What you bring as a future Intern
You are a Msc student in relevant fields such as plant science, biotechnology or/and microbiology.
You have strong research skills, including critical thinking and the ability to interpretate results and write scientific reports.
Experience with molecular biology lab techniques, cultivating plants in the greenhouse, but any other relevant experience for the position will be positively considered as well.
Experience using R for statistical analysis.
You are fluent in English (writing and speaking)
You have valid drivers`s license
The internship will take place at head quarter in Enkhuizen and our Enza Zaden production greenhouses in short driving distance from Enkhuizen,
