As a PE Teacher at The European School The Hague, you will have the unique opportunity to engage with our diverse student body, equipping them with invaluable athletic attitudes, knowledge, and life skills.

You will have access to excellent facilities, including two dedicated PE halls and a wonderful outdoor sports area. Our department deeply values proactiveness and professionalism in how we interact with colleagues, engage with students, and manage equipment. This means you respect deadlines, deliver high-quality lessons, and reliably manage your responsibilities. Because we offer a wide variety of sports, we expect our educators to invest the time necessary to plan dynamic, well-structured lessons. In addition, you will receive additional tasks such as organizing a camp/trip/sports day.

As a Teacher of PE, you will:

·         Open to and positive attitude towards long-term learning and feedback.

·         Deliver engaging PE lessons to students aged 11-15, following the European Baccalaureate curriculum.

·         Inspire and engage your students in PE

·         Create an inclusive classroom environment where every student’s talent is nurtured.

·         Willing to take on organizational tasks (camps/sportsdays/tournaments) to fulfill departmental needs

·         Professional attitude (e.g., meeting deadlines, maintaining a professional workspace)

·         Teamplayer mentality for collaborating with colleagues, students, and parents

·         Passion for promoting physical activity and well-being

·         Willing to take on an after-school sports team. No specialization required, but a proactive attitude towards learning a specific sport is essential.

What We’re Looking For

·         A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Physical Education (or equivalent).

·         Fully qualified teacher status for secondary education, recognized in the country where the qualification was obtained. (For UK/Ireland/Scotland applicants, you must have QTS and have completed or been exempt from the statutory induction period).

·         Your teaching qualifications must meet the Dutch Education Authorities' (DUO) standards.

·         Proficiency in English at a C2 level (CEFR).

·         Experience teaching students aged 11–18.

·         Open and positive attitude to long-term feedback (learning never ends).

·         Willing to take on necessary organisational tasks (camps, coach, sports days) to fulfill departmental needs.

·         Hands-on, proactive approach and ability to differentiate.

·         Professional attitude (e.g., meeting deadlines, maintaining a professional workspace).

·         Teamplayer mentality for collaborating with colleagues, students, and parents.

·         Passion for promoting physical activity and well-being.

·         Positive general demeanor.

·         Willing to take on an after-school sports team. No specialisation required, but a proactive attitude towards learning a specific sport is essential.

·         Familiarity with international or intercultural education.

·         Knowledge of additional EU languages is an advantage.

·         Living in the Netherlands with a work permit

·         We offer a salary aligned with the Dutch Collective Labour Agreement (CAO VO). The salary is a minimum of 3622€ and a maximum of 5520€ for a full-time contract on the LB scale. The salary scale and the step offered will depend on your level of experience.

o    8% holiday allowance (May)

Shortlisted candidates will be invited to an interview, either in person or via Microsoft Teams. As part of the interview process, candidates may be asked to teach a lesson to an assigned class under the observation of the Subject Coordinator and, where applicable, the Line Manager. A portion of the interview will focus on discussion and reflection on this lesson.
