In the role of student counsellor, you are part of the Care Team of our school. You will support the academic, social, and emotional well-being of our diverse student body by identifying the students’ needs through intake, follow-up, and evaluation meetings. The counsellor will work closely with students, parents, and staff to foster a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning atmosphere. In their individual support, you will formulate support plans and contribute to individual educational plans. Coaching students in their social and/or emotional development, particularly in relation to school performance, will be a key aspect of your role. Depending on the difficulties at hand, you will also develop and provide tailored training for individual students or groups of students.
Acting as a coach and advisor, you will assist teachers in implementing inclusive education practices and provide broad-ranging advice on student functioning. By offering workshops, and individual guidance on teaching approaches, and organizing training sessions, you will contribute to the professional development of teachers. You will also contribute to annual plans and reports related to the guidance process and ensure effective monitoring and planning.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide individual and group counselling to students on academic, social, emotional, and behavioral issues
- Support students in managing stress, transitions, and personal challenges, particularly within an international context
- Collaborate with teachers, and parents to develop strategies that support student well-being and success
- Promote a positive school climate through workshops, preventative programs, and well-being initiatives
- Maintain accurate and confidential student records in line with safeguarding and data protection policies

The package will be commensurate with the responsibilities of the position and will include the following elements:
- Salary depending or previous experience and qualifications (based on the Dutch CAO VO)
- ABP Retirement/Pension scheme
- School closure holidays
Profiel kandidaat
We are looking for a candidate who:
- Has completed a university bachelor/ master's degree in (Educational/ Children- and Youth) Psychology, or a related field;
- Has theoretical and practical expertise in case management;
- Has experience / affinity working in an international environment;
- Possesses knowledge and understanding of the educational and school environment;
- Is familiar with educational programs, profiles, and systems within the school;
- Demonstrates strong interpersonal, communication and consultation skills with students and parents;
- Is fluent in English as well as Dutch;
- Is skilled in supporting, coaching, guiding, and advising colleagues;
- Has a process-oriented and solution orientated approach to case management;
- Is able to think outside the box.
