Enza Zaden is currently on a mission to be the most data savvy and data driven breeding company in the world and therefore we’re looking for you, a Solution Architect Data & Analytics. You will be responsible for designing the data platform for analytics & reporting.

As our Solution Architect Data & Analytics, you will design and orchestrate the Enza future cloud & analytics landscape. You make sure that the hunger to make the difference by using data, analytics and AI is flexible and scalable for future demands. You combine long term decisions for the right platforms or infrastructure with short term solutions to keep our data, analytics and AI journey going.

Inside Enza Zaden, we are working with the Azure stack, so it’s important that you know you’re way around the Azure products and services. You will design new and work on existing capabilities to make our data platform ready for new developments in all parts of our company. You will guide our data engineers in expanding and building the platform. The platform and its data products should be as standardized and automated as much as possible.

In this role you will work together in an agile environment with our Bio-Informaticians, Analytic & Reporting Teams, the Smart Data Platform team (Machine Learning Engineers, Analytics Engineers and Data Engineers)  and Architecture and Infrastructure teams. You keep in touch with our data professionals and external partners to determine how we can stay up-to-date with new trends and developments.

Furthermore, you will continuously improve the data platform capabilities to guarantee the optimal usage of the platform (e.g., stability, reliability, efficiency and quality). You work on making the platform and its products future proof (Life Cycle Management). You make sure the platform and its products comply to the Enza Zaden security and architecture standards.

Data experience

• Experience with a modern data stack such as Databricks, Snowflake, Redshift.

• Experience in a larger company, wherein more than one team is working with data and hence a single data warehouse does not suffice

• Experience with ingestion/integration patterns, knows what to use when.

• Experience with access control, such as  table ACLs.

• Experience with building data products

• Experience with various data tools and frameworks such as Databricks, Data Factory,  Python, SQL,  PowerBI

Cloud experience

• Know ins and outs of the deployment of infrastructure with Terraform (CI/CD & GIT)

• Knowing Azure Subscriptions, Resource Group etc.

• Some high level knowledge on networking, subnets, routing etc

You use your communication skills to translate business requirements into designs and standards. Finally, you love to educate and guide other data professionals and business stakeholders about the data platform, data products and available tooling. Enza Zaden is changing at a rapid pace to continue to distinguish itself in the global market by implementing top notch digital solutions and technology. In order to facilitate this change, Enza Zaden is adopting a Hub-Spoke setup for its cloud infrastructure. This allows teams to take ownership of parts of the cloud (the spoke), and minimize their dependencies on other departments. Your job will be to orchestrate this, by designing solutions for these teams. Within these boundaries teams will have freedom to execute.

Experience

• 3+ years of experience in architecture role

• 5+ years of experience in converting business processes, requirements and wishes into functional and technical solutions.

• Experience in developing data solutions, preferable on top of Azure

• Positive attitude and con-do mentality to make it work

Requirements

• Relevant Bachelor or Master degree

• Able to handle large complex projects

• Able to propose and make crucial (tech) design decisions

• Advanced tech knowledge (SME), primary focus on data which is described above

• Able to handle “client” facing responsibilities

• Able to guide/train junior staff, (senior) engineer
