The R&D Lead Engineer is responsible for leading all engineering activities on one or several R&D projects, with team members in Rheden and in other Howden locations or 3rd parties.
The R&D lead engineer is responsible for product design validation. The position combines engineering activities and functional leadership.
The R&D Lead Engineer is
- responsible for product feasibility and that the overall assembly / system design meets the product design requirements as stated in the Market Product Specification
- responsible for the Product Design Requirements and Product Performance for the future products.
- responsible for engineering documentation and for product design validation (strength analysis, FMEA’s, design specifications)
- responsible for processes methods and tools in the R&D projects assigned to him, in accordance with the New Product Development process and framework of the company
- responsible of the on time completion of engineering deliverables
- providing inputs for the definition and planning of concept, development and commercialization phases
The R&D Lead Engineer is working in close cooperation with the Project Manager on each project.
When relevant, the R&D Lead Engineer is involved in the selection of engineers in the project team and of 3rd parties for engineering.

Profiel kandidaat
Education requirements
- Bachelor or Master in Engineering
Knowledge requirements
- Compressor operating principles and design
- P&ID`s and system engineering (auxiliary equipment design and selection)
- Strength calculations, stress calculation – Finite Element Analysis
- Material knowledge
- CAD software such as Inventor/AutoCAD
- PFMEA/DFMEA.
- New product engineering and testing processes
Experience Requirements
- 5 years minimum in a lead engineering function
- Experience in Product Development
- Experience in Hydrogen market segment is desired
Travel
- Willingness to travel occasionally at suppliers, Howden locations or 3rd parties involved in engineering activities
