As part of our ongoing commitment to develop our business, we are looking for a legal counsel real estate. As legal counsel real estate, you support the real estate and expansion teams. You will become part of a driven legal team of 6 people responsible for all legal topics within the retail, corporate and online activities of Decathlon Netherlands.

Your job

As legal counsel real estate, you will work closely together with our real estate and asset management departments on all real estate related matters across the Netherlands. Your focus will be working on development matters (real estate sale and purchase agreement, lease agreements, investment agreements, construction agreements, procedures to obtain permits, etc.) and asset management matters (management of leases, maintenance agreements, supplier contracts, etc). You will also provide our real estate and asset management team and our store leaders with legal support.

You contribute to the professionalization of the legal department, including developing and updating legal templates, providing training and identifying relevant legislation and developments.

No day is the same. You have a wide playing field. You are not only in contact with national stakeholders, but also with international colleagues. There is plenty of room to work independently and we value a good balance between work and private life. Your team consists of 6 legal colleagues, divided into areas of interest such as commercial contracting, employment law, privacy and compliance. There is an open atmosphere with plenty of room to discuss and exchange experiences.

Responsibilities

• Support the real estate team and the expansion team with the drafting, negotiating and reviewing of development agreements (i.e. construction agreements, service agreements) and real estate related agreements (i.e. lease agreements, maintenance agreements, supplier contracts)

• Providing legal support on real estate and asset management matters for all relevant departments and stores as well as with procedures (such as obtaining permits, sustainability initiatives, interpretation of zoning and further relevant issues, procedures)

• Optimize internal processes by drafting standard procedures and templates

• Monitoring deadlines, managing litigation and disputes related to real estate and asset management

• Following the real estate related governances and required follow ups with our international development team as well as responding to their direct queries

• Partnering with our commercial legal counsel in assisting other departments to draft, review and negotiate all sorts of commercial agreements, where necessary.

What we expect from you

• A passion for sport and working on site

• Fluency in Dutch and English, French knowledge is an advantage

• Master's degree in Dutch law

• Approximately 3 year's relevant real estate legal experience as a lawyer or as in-house legal counsel

• Skills in drafting and reviewing development, lease and other real estate development and/or asset management agreements

• Skills is drafting and reviewing commercial agreements

• Proactive and hands-on attitude
