Assistant Researcher Molecular Biology |2fte - temporary

Are you available for a temporary period to assist our Molecular Biology department on molecular genetic research? 

What are you going to do 

As an Assistant Researcher Molecular Biology, you will work together with highly motivated colleagues in the Biotechnology Research (BTR) department. You provide assistance in research projects and support the Senior Researcher in the execution of the projects. This entails preparation and execution of trials initiated by the Senior Researcher and the evaluation of experiments and documentation of results. Furthermore, you will report and discuss test results with the Senior Researcher and support with the implementation of protocols, methods and techniques.  

You will use your expert knowledge about genetics and molecular technologies to understand the genetics of various traits in crops Enza is active in. For these projects, you apply molecular technologies, such as next generation sequencing (NGS), that will allow you to identify the genetic variation with the aim to support the breeding process. You are keen to stay keep up-to-date with the latest developments and regularly read scientific literature. Your good communication skills and collaborative spirit are the key ingredients to work with (international) colleagues who all share the goal of creating the best vegetable varieties.  

This is a temporary position for the period 1 year, preferably starting in January 2025. 

Your power 

We are looking for a hands-on, precise and organized Assistant Molecular Biologist, BSc or Master, that is familiar with molecular principles, next-generation sequencing technologies and data analysis. You are passionate about working in the lab and you keep looking for new possibilities and openly discuss and share your ideas with your fellow researchers. Furthermore, you have good communication skills, are a strong team player and you like plants and the agricultural business. 

 
In short, you 

• have a Bachelor or Master degree (in biotechnology/ biomedical or similar) and have experience in the field of molecular genetics; 

• are motivated to get the right answer by pushing the scientific boundaries; 

• are an accurate, independent worker but find teamwork important to reach common goals; 

• have knowledge about genetics, statistics, programming and (plant) breeding; 

• are interested in plants; 

• are well organized an capable of dealing with deadlines.
