ABOUT AMERSFOORT INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL
Amersfoort International School (AIS) started in 2023 and offers English-language international primary education to children aged 4-12. The school is now preparing for authorisation by the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (IB PYP). AIS is a Dutch International Primary School (DIPS) located near the historical centre of Amersfoort. The school shares a building with a Dutch primary school, De Kubus, and is governed by the AnnoNu school board, a group of 24 Dutch national schools in the Amersfoort region. The school’s vision is to be a learning community based on inclusion and equal opportunities, thus empowering students to become internationally-minded and successful learners in an ever-changing world. This is reflected in the school’s mission statement, ‘Learning for All.’

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

• Recognised teaching qualification
• An extensive understanding of teaching Dutch as an additional language
• Proficient in Dutch and English (verbal and written)
• Able to demonstrate creativity, compassion, and a desire to make a difference in the learning of our children
• Able to collaborate on curriculum design and development of our Dutch language programme
• Experience in the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (IB PYP) or similar inquiry-based curriculum is preferred
• Able to incorporating multilingualism and appreciation of home languages into the curriculum
• A commitment to our school’s mission, vision and values
• A European work visa or passport
• Excellent knowledge and experience of different teaching and educational methodologies
• Able to differentiate instruction to meet needs and strengths of a diverse student population
• Excellent communication skills and ability to function well within a team
• A great sense of humour and an optimistic attitude
