How do I become a Data Platform Engineer at Coolblue?
As a Data Platform Engineer, you'll be at the forefront of designing, building, and operating distributed data platforms like Airflow and Kafka. Your focus will be on security, compliance, scalability, and flexibility. By leveraging event-driven architectures, you'll enhance the Customer Experience across various domains, from Marketing to Data Science. Supporting over 500 colleagues, you'll assist with troubleshooting, documentation, and training. As a data platform guru, you thrive on challenges related to scalability, system tuning, and automation (AWS, CDK, Terraform). You’re part of an international team of 5-7 Coolblue’ers, working closely with the Developers and the Analytics Platform Engineers. Outside your team, you often sync up with Cloud Engineers to enhance your platform deployment skills.
You enjoy doing this
- Design data platforms on AWS/Google Cloud and introduce DataOps/SRE culture.
- Enable 70+ development teams to share data and help Analysts and Scientists gain new insights.
- Learn new technologies through courses, POCs, and hackathons.
- Work with AWS services and Docker to ensure scalable, secure data platforms.
- Engage with colleagues to spot and explore new opportunities.
- Work in an Agile environment, improving customer journeys.
- Code in Python and also learn about other languages.
- Share knowledge through pairing, code reviews, training, and coaching.
You recognize yourself in the following
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or a comparable field.
- 3+ years (medior) or 5+ years (senior) of experience as a data platform engineer.
- Solid experience deploying distributed apps on the cloud using Airflow or Kafka.
- Skilled in Cloud Architecture on AWS and/or GCP.
- Expertise in Configuration Management with tools like Terraform or CloudFormation.
- Hands-on experience with Continuous Integration and monitoring tools like Datadog.
- Passionate about mentoring others to enhance their technical skills.
