We are seeking a dedicated Functional Application Specialist to deliver up-to-date and efficient running applications to our research colleagues and drive continuous improvement across our IT services.

The Functional Application Specialist will play a crucial role in ensuring that our research teams fully embrace and leverage our internal applications to enhance productivity, streamline processes and drive overall efficiency. This role involves working closely with various stakeholders to handle incidents, manage service requests and lead change implementation. • Lead the change in delivering and maintaining efficient applications used by our research teams. You will identify opportunities for improvement and ensure applications meet business and user requirements.

• Enable a thriving community of key users. Promote collaboration across IT and research teams to continuously improve IT services and processes.

• Be the voice of the user by engaging with key stakeholders to identify requirements and translate them into technical solutions that drive productivity and innovation.

Make a difference as a Functional Application Specialist

As a Functional Application Specialist, you are responsible for ensuring that applications operate efficiently and are continuously optimized to meet operational demands. You act as the bridge between IT and the research teams, ensuring high service quality and user satisfaction. Furthermore, you:

• Handle incidents, service requests and user support to ensure seamless business continuity.

• Enable and train a team of key users, ensuring their knowledge and expertise are used effectively.

• Identify and implement new opportunities and strategies to improve systems and processes.

• Work closely with team members, Product Owners and the Manager IT Services to define priorities and direction.

• Ensure alignment of technical solutions with business goals and operational needs.

• Apply Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban) to manage activities efficiently.

What you bring as a future colleague

• You have a Bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science or an educational background and professional experience in managing and supporting IT applications

• You have minimum 3 years of experience.

• You are a proactive professional with excellent communication skills.

• You excel in global cross-functional teamwork and align with stakeholders. 

• You have strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

• You are able to understand complex procedures and technologies.

• You are familiar with Agile methodologies such as Scrum and Kanban.

• You enjoy connecting with people and continuously improving processes and services.
